A furoshiki is a Japanese wrapping cloth that has been used for centuries to carry and gift everyday objects. No tape, no waste, just a single piece of fabric tied with care.

The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai is one of the most recognized images in the history of art. The composition balances raw energy with stillness, a towering wave framing a perfectly calm Mount Fuji in the distance. It has moved artists for nearly two centuries. Van Gogh wrote about it in a letter to his brother, describing the waves as claws and noting its terrifying emotional impact. It is believed to have inspired The Starry Night.

This design can be a thoughtful gift for anyone who appreciates Japanese art or design. The neutral beige colorway makes it work across different occasions. A wine bottle, a small box, or anything you want to give that deserves a little more care than a paper bag.

Why We Offer Free Furoshiki Gift Wrapping

Every gift tells a story. We hope ours tells one of kindness, not only to the person receiving it, but also to the planet we all share.

Too much single-use plastic is used for gift wrapping that lasts only moments before becoming waste.Every year, more of it finds its way into our rivers, lakes, and oceans, where it remains for generations. We believe a beautiful gift shouldn’t leave a lasting mark on nature.

That’s why we offer complimentary furoshiki gift wrapping. When you choose a Japanese furoshiki, we’ll wrap your tea or matcha gift at no extra charge. You’re purchasing a beautiful, reusable wrapping cloth, not a disposable decoration.

Unlike plastic gift wrap, a Japanese furoshiki is made to be used again and again. It can be reused for future gifts, carrying lunch boxes or bottles, organizing everyday essentials, decorating the home, or shopping. It’s a simple choice that helps reduce waste while creating a gift that’s both elegant and meaningful.

Choose a reusable furoshiki and give a gift that keeps giving to your loved one and to our planet.

About Ukiyo-e

Ukiyo-e is a traditional Japanese art form that reached its peak during the Edo period. Woodblock prints like The Great Wave had a significant influence on Western art in the late 1800s, inspiring the Impressionist movement and artists across Europe.
